The Investment Coach
Your investment options
This part of the site allows you to make investments in a range of savings accounts. You can open or transfer a Self Invested Personal Pension (SIPP), Individual Savings Account (ISA) or Investment Account using a simple online application process. Once you have registered you can log in and check your progress, buy and sell investments, and withdraw cash from your ISA or Investment Account whenever you want. The service is administered by Investor Direct which is provided by Investment Funds Direct Limited, part of the Royal London Group.
- Ease of Access
- Once you have registered, you can log straight in to your Account and you will be able to manage your portfolio whenever and wherever you choose.
- You can always go back and get advice from your adviser but this service allows you to undertake investment purchases on your own.
- Investment choice
- You can invest in a wide range of assets, ranging from funds to stocks and shares.
- Because you are doing the research and selecting your own investments the charges can potentially be more competitive than arrangements through an adviser.
- A single view of your investments
- It is easy to transfer any existing ISAs, investment accounts, and pensions to us – we will do all the work on your behalf. You will then be able to view your investments together in one place, reducing paperwork and making your investments easier to manage.

How do I register?
The Investor Direct Service is a non-advised service where you make all your own investment decisions. The application process has three stages which will allow you to set up your Account and select your investments. These are:
- Provide your personal details
- Make your desired contribution (either lump sum, regular contribution or transfer from your current provider)
- Choose your investments.
Once you have registered, you will receive your Investor Direct User ID and Account number. You will then need to set up a password and PIN so you can access your portfolio whenever you want.
We offer access to a Stocks and Shares ISA (Individual Savings Account). This allows you to put your money in investments up to an annual limit, allowing you to create a portfolio which is largely sheltered from the taxman. You can also transfer into your account previous ISAs from other providers so that your savings can be accessed in a single place.
We offer access to a SIPP (Self Invested Personal Pension). This is an Account that allows you to save for your retirement and take control of your pension planning in a tax-efficient way. SIPPs may only be used to provide for retirement and death benefits and therefore you cannot normally take any income from your pension before age 55. You can also transfer existing eligible personal pension or previous employer schemes into your account so that your savings can be accessed in a single place.Read more I'm happy to get started
We offer access to an Investment Account, allowing you to buy, sell and manage investments through a single online portfolio. You will be able to invest in a wide range of investments, including funds and stocks and shares. There is no upper age limit to an Investment Account and you can withdraw your money whenever you need to. However, remember that income and gains are taxable.
All the charges will be clearly set out when you register for the service - there are no hidden costs or commissions. You will be paying a fee to Investor Direct for the platform administration, your Distributor for their services, the fund manager (charges available in the selection process) and any transaction fees (applicable only to certain transactions).
Remember there are no transaction charges for buying funds and no fees from us for transferring in your existing investments.
Please be aware of the risks involved.
You should understand that we do not assess the suitability of this service for your individual circumstances. In order to ensure you understand the terms of your Account and the associated risks, please read the content of the documents (presented in the application process) before you proceed with your application. The objectives and risks of each fund are explained in the Key Investor Information Document (KIID), which can be found next to each fund in the ‘search and select’ screen where you choose your investments.
Remember, you can spread your investments across a range of assets and diversify your portfolio rather than putting ‘all your eggs in one basket’.
The value of investments, and any income from them, can fall so you could get back less than you invest. Past performance is not an indication of future performance.
It is important that you are able to financially bear the risks associated with the investments you select and you should consider if this will have a materially detrimental effect on your standard of living.
Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and may be subject to change.
If you are in any doubt, please seek advice.
